Student Behavior Contracts From Ellen Newman, a teacher at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania: "When students cannot get along, I make them draw up a 'legally binding' contract to govern their behavior. They have to work together after school while I pretend to mark papers and ignore them. The contract must include how each will avoid confrontation, and remedies...the penalty for breaking the contract. I haven't had to use this very often."
